Garner Veterans Memorial
Welcome to Garner Veterans Memorial!
This park is located in Benson Lake Park in the Town of Garner. The memorial was dedicated May 4, 2013. It memorializes all veterans, but especially those veterans from Garner, NC and surrounding areas who’ve given their lives in the service of United States of America.
The Garner Veterans Memorial features 16 vertical concrete slabs engraved with conflict history of the associated decade. Opposite from those slabs are upright Servicemen Remembrance Panels engraved with the names of those local fallen heroes associated with the conflicts of that decade. There is a section of engraved bricks known as the walkway of honor. It is made up of bricks donated and purchased by friends and family members honored. Bricks can still be purchased.
The Garner Veterans Memorial committee accepted the design from local architect Mon Peng Yueh and artist Thomas Sayre with history written by NC State professor Craig Thompson Friend.
It is a beautiful site to see and is worth seeing in person. Check out the link to virtual tour below to view. Please remember to be respectful when visiting this memorial!
